NBCU to Close Style Network UK

LONDON: NBCUniversal has decided to shut down The Style Network in the U.K., where it has been operating since 2008.

The channel will end transmissions as of December 9. The focus in the U.K. will be on the existing Universal Channel, E!, Syfy and Movies 24 brands.

In the U.S., NBCU rebranded Style Network as Esquire Network in September.

“After thorough consideration, Universal Networks International has taken the decision to withdraw Style from the U.K. with effect from December 9, 2013, and will refocus its strategic efforts on continuing to build successes across our four distinct channel brands in the U.K.—Universal Channel, E!, Syfy and Movies 24,” said a Universal Networks International representative.
