Chuck Lorre’s Mom Sitcom Finds U.K. Home

LONDON: ITV2 has acquired the new U.S. comedy Mom, from executive producer Chuck Lorre (The Big Bang Theory), along with the past seasons of Lorre’s Two and a Half Men.

Mom stars Anna Faris as a single mother, Christy, whose newly found sobriety has given her a new lease on life, one she doesn’t exactly like. Allison Janney plays Christy’s estranged mother, Bonnie.

ITV2 also picked up the free-to-air broadcast rights for the first ten seasons of Two and a Half Men. The hit U.S. comedy will be available starting in 2014.

Both series were scored from Warner Bros. International Television Distribution.

Angela Jain, ITV’s director of digital channels and acquisitions, said, “Putting quality comedy, both acquired and original on ITV2 is a vital part of the channel’s strategy. Chuck Lorre needs no introduction, he is a comedy genius. With that pedigree, Mom was a must-have for us and we hope ITV2 viewers agree that it is a laugh-out loud treat.”

Jeffrey R. Schlesinger, Warner Bros.’ president of worldwide television distribution, added, “Chuck Lorre’s comedies have attracted millions of loyal fans in the U.K., and we believe Mom will be the latest to continue that streak. We also know that while new episodes of Two and a Half Men continue on another network, it will fuel interest in the classic episodes by both new and long-time fans.”
