CANNES: There is an increased level of interest from global broadcasters for the content coming out of Russia, according to Julia Matiash, the director of SOVTELEEXPORT, the distribution company of Russia Television and Radio.

The company is offering The Spy, centered on a German espionage agent living in the early 1940s. Life and Fate is a historical drama also set in the 1940s. It is based on a novel that was originally banned in the Soviet Union, and its characters are involved in World War II’s Battle of Stalingrad. A big new launch for Russia Television and Radio is Secrets of the Institute for Noble Maidens. “We have a lot of business partners in Europe and Asia and now we would like to focus on such territories as Latin America, the U.S.A., Canada, Australia and the Middle East,” says Matiash.
