Appropriate Adult Wins Big at BAFTA TV Awards

LONDON: Appropriate Adult, an ITV drama about the Fred West murder investigation, scored a slew of wins at the BAFTA TV Awards.

Dominic West won for leading actor for his portrayal of Fred West in the serial killer drama, which aired on ITV1. Emily Watson took the lead actress nod for her role in Appropriate Adult, while Monica Dolan scored the supporting actress win for the ITV drama. The best supporting actor nod went to Andrew Scott for Sherlock.

Darren Boyd won for his male comedic performance in Spy. Jennifer Saunders won on the female side for Absolutely Fabulous. Best entertainment performance went to Graham Norton for The Graham Norton Show.

The Fades—the supernatural series recently cancelled by BBC Three—won for best drama series, while Random won for best single drama and Coronation Street for best soap and continuing drama. The win for best mini-series went to This is England ’88. Borgen won in the international category.

Derren Brown: The Experiments was named best entertainment program. The comedy win went to Stewart Lee’s Comedy Vehicle. Situation comedy honors went to Mrs. Brown’s Boys.

On the factual end, Our War was named best factual series and Mummifying Alan: Egypt’s Last Secret was the top specialist factual program. Terry Pratchett: Choosing to Die received the honors as the best single documentary. The Young Apprentice was the winner for reality and constructed factual.

The YouTube Audience Award was presented to Celebrity Juice.
