Sky Italia Enriches Sports Offering

MILAN: In Italy, Sky has acquired the exclusive TV rights for the FIM MotoGP World Championship, starting from the 2014 season.

Sky gains exclusive rights to broadcast all 18 races of the three classes from the FIM MotoGP World Championship, via an agreement with Dorna, the company organizing the championship. Under the pact with Dorna, Sky is in charge of providing the free-to-air showings of eight MotoGP appointments. Content will be offered across all Sky platforms, including free- and pay-TV, the Internet, mobile and Sky Go.

Andrea Zappia, Sky Italia CEO, stated: “We are glad we have reached this agreement. It represents a new, decisive and important signal for subscribers who, in years to come, will be able to rely on one of the deepest-rooted sports event in Italians’ hearts.
