UKTV Picks Up Aussie Medical Drama The Heart Guy

UKTV has acquired seasons one and two of The Heart Guy from FremantleMedia International to air on its Drama channel.

The hit Australian medical drama first aired on Nine Network in Australia under the local title Doctor Doctor, and it has been ordered for a third season there. The show will now make its U.K. premiere on April 5 at 9 p.m. on Drama.

Rodger Corser (Glitch, Doctor Blake Mysteries) stars in the series as Doctor Hugh Knight, a rising star in the Sydney heart surgery ranks who gets banned and has to work as a local doctor in his hometown.

Emma Sparks, UKTV’s head of acquisitions, said: “We are delighted to extend our relationship with Fremantle. The Heart Guy launched to an outstanding reception in Australia and we are excited to be bringing the charming characters of Whyhope to the U.K.”
