Shahid Launches Remake of The Killing

The Nordic noir classic The Killing has been adapted for MBC Group’s Shahid streaming platform by Charisma Pictures.

Premiering today on the SVOD service Shahid VIP, Monataf Khater is set in Cairo, with a script penned by Mohamed El Masry. Charisma Pictures, the scripted production division of Charisma Group, acquired the rights to remake the Danish hit Forbrydelsen from DR Sales.

Tareq Al Ibrahim, director of content at Shahid VIP, noted, “With its outstanding talent and gripping storylines, The Killing fast became a fan favorite and has gone on to earn a cult following across the world—not to mention a number of awards including a BAFTA and International Emmy. We’re delighted to have teamed up with DR Drama and Charisma Pictures to create a new Arabic adaptation of the police procedural drama, with a fantastic cast and crew, led by director Al Sadeer Masoud.
