Paramount+ Sets International Originals Slate

Paramount+ has set its upcoming international originals slate, with the U.K. drama The Gold to be the first to premiere in September.

Inspired by real events that took place in 1983, The Gold follows as six armed men break into the Brink’s-Mat security depot near London’s Heathrow Airport and stumble across gold bullion worth £26 million ($33 million). It will premiere in international markets on September 14 and in the U.S. on September 17.

The Gold is co-produced by Tannadice Pictures, an Objective Fiction partner, and Paramount Television International Studios. It is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution outside of the Paramount+ markets.

On October 5, the South Korean drama Bargain is slated to drop. Developed by Paramount+ and TVING out of Paramount’s global partnership with CJ ENM, the series revolves around a group of strangers who gather at a remote hotel with ulterior motives. When an unexpected earthquake traps them inside the building, they must find a way to survive while trusting no one. It is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution outside of Korea, Japan and Taiwan.

Season two of Los Enviados is set to bow on Paramount+ by the end of 2023. The show sees Pedro Salinas and Simón Antequera team with Sister Emilia to investigate miracles, putting their faith, intelligence and values at stake. The series is produced by 100 Bares, Portocabo and Paramount Television International Studios and distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution. Season one became the top-performing Spanish-language series on Paramount+ in the U.S. just after its premiere.

Other international titles coming to Paramount+ are Sexy Beast, Queen Woo and A Blood Lucky Day. From AC Chapter One Pictures, Anonymous Content and Paramount Television International Studios, Sexy Beast centers on a duo of small-town thieves living in ’90s East London. ANDMARQ Studio, Compass Pictures and CJ ENM Studio’s Queen Woo follows the journey of Queen Woo Her, the first woman in history to become queen twice. A Bloody Lucky Day, meanwhile, is a thriller that revolves around an ordinary taxi driver who becomes entangled with a customer who turns out to be a serial killer. It is produced by Studio Dragon, The Great Show and Studio N.

“At Paramount+, we believe in the power of internationally originated content to drive engagement,” said Tom Ryan, president and CEO of streaming at Paramount. “We know there is a huge appetite for premium high-quality programming from around the world, and we are thrilled to leverage Paramount’s global scale and expertise to build a slate of new hits and franchises with worldwide appeal.”
