Ian McShane (John Wick: Chapter 4, American Gods, Deadwood) has joined the cast of Helium Pictures’ Last King of the Cross.

McShane will star as Ezra Shipman, a man with a gift for all things business, both legal and illegal. For three generations, he was the most powerful and feared man in Sydney, until John Ibrahim arrived.

Filming for the series is set to begin in Sydney in May. It is being produced for Paramount+ Australia and will be distributed internationally by Cineflix Rights. Mark Fennessy and Karl Zwicky serve as producers, while Kieran Darcy-Smith will direct.

“From Winston to Blackbeard, Al Swearengen to Mr. Wednesday, Ian McShane’s on-screen characterizations are the epitome of compelling masterpieces, and we cannot wait for the world to meet Ezra Shipman,” said Fennessy, founder of Helium.

James Durie, head of scripted at Cineflix Rights added, “Ian McShane is admired by audiences around the world for his powerful, intense performances in some of the biggest dramas of the past two decades. Having him join Last King of the Cross as Ezra is testament to the power of the story Kieran and Mark have created and will really give the series huge appeal for our global buyers.”
