HBO Europe Vet Gabor Krigler Launches Joyrider

Gabor Krigler, a former producer and showrunner for HBO Europe, has launched the Budapest-based independent development and production facility Joyrider Television.

Through the company, Krigler will develop and invest in projects from established writers across Europe, in addition to developing in-house projects. Krigler is also head of studies at the Midpoint TV Launch program, the training and networking platform for script and project development organized by FAMU in Prague, and is a visiting lecturer at several creative workshops.

Krigler said: “We have a number of projects under consideration, and I am confident we will be announcing a greenlit project in late autumn. We are focusing on developing high-concept, genre-based serial narratives with strong thematic cores, exploring the human condition in an entertaining and meaningful way, aimed at international markets.”

Of the programs, he added: “Mentoring and tutoring at these prestigious programs gives me the opportunity to find new talent and scout for fresh and unique projects.”

At HBO Europe in Hungary, Krigler produced such drama series as Aranyelet (Golden Life) and Terapia (In Treatment) as well as the second season of Tarsas jatek (Shall We Kiss). Joyrider has inked a non-exclusive development deal with HBO Europe and has a working relationship with the London- and L.A.-based international TV drama accelerator MediaXchange.
