Cineflix Rights has signed multiple deals for the Canadian drama Pure with European broadcasters, including Virgin Media in the U.K.

Inspired by true events, Pure follows the journey of Noah Funk, a newly-elected Mennonite pastor, who is determined to rid his community of the scourge of drugs and its nefarious ties to a trans-border smuggling alliance with ruthless Mexican cocaine cartels. Just when he thinks he’s won, he and his wife Anna are thrust into a desperate world of violence, greed and betrayal.

Cineflix locked in sales with Paris Première (M6 Group, France), Virgin Media for its Virgin Ultra HD Channel (U.K.), Cosmopolitan TV (Spain) and Sony’s AXN channel in Germany. The series is a Two East Productions/Cineflix Studios production for Super Channel Canada, WGN America, Hulu and CBC Canada.

Chris Bonney, CEO of rights at Cineflix Media, said: “With a Breaking Bad meets Witness plotline, Pure’s dark intensity and high-stakes storyline struck a chord with viewers and critics alike in the U.S. and Canada. We’re thrilled that now audiences in Europe will join Noah, Anna and a cast of compelling characters on a conflicted and perilous journey, wrought with adrenaline-charged twists and turns.”
