New Venture Stellis Media to Re-Launch Ellis Library

TORONTO: The Ellis library, containing nearly 600 titles produced by Canada's Ralph C. Ellis and Stephen Ellis, is to be re-released globally through the pair's new company, Stellis Media.

The Ellis Library contains hundreds of productions spanning the factual genres of natural history, science, history and family entertainment. The programs were originally produced for debuts on television networks in Canada, the U.S., the U.K. and Germany over the past 47 years, including CBC, Global TV, Discovery Channel and Animal Planet. They have aired in more than 100 countries in several languages.

Among the titles in the portfolio is Profiles of Nature, comprising more than 200 half-hour and one-hour episodes and specials. There is also Baby Human, a six-parter about infant development; Mysterious Ruins: Cape Breton, which explores the Ming Dynasty connections with the east coast of Canada; Adventures in Rainbow Country, a hit Canadian family show; Buck Staghorn's Animal Bites, a half-hour mockumentary series; and Tank Overhaul, an eight-parter focused on rebuilding battle tanks from past wars.

Stephen Ellis, the president of Stellis Media, said: "Our productions have an evergreen quality simply because they were both domestically and internationally market-driven, and not dependent on direct Canadian government equity investment."

Ralph C. Ellis, chairman emeritus of the new company, added: "It's been a delightful 91st birthday present to see the library I started now available in the burgeoning digital marketplace."
