ITV Studios Strikes Deal with CBC

ITV Studios has signed a major content deal with Canada’s CBC for a wide-ranging slate of non-scripted and scripted titles.

A number of factual programs are part of the deal, including The Queen Unseen, Paul O’Grady: For the Love of Dogs season ten and the Royal Variety Performance 2021.

The deal also includes scripted titles such as an extension of Coronation Street, Showtrial, Thin Blue Line, Noughts + Crosses and Greyzone, as well as the adult animated program Ten Year Old Tom. Comedies that will be coming to CBC platforms are Bump season two and Spreadsheet.

Craig Bohland, VP of sales for Canada at ITV Studios, said: “We are excited to extend our long-running Coronation Street partnership with CBC, along with a top-notch list of amazing scripted and factual titles from across the globe. This includes shows from a rich number of territories including the U.K., Australia, Sweden and the U.S.”

Jenna Bourdeau, senior director of acquisitions at CBC, added: “This is an exciting deal for CBC audiences in Canada. Coronation Street has been a sustained favorite since it first debuted on CBC in the 1960s, and these new, acclaimed titles complement our original Canadian shows with a distinct selection of best-in-class series from around the world. Ten Year Old Tom and Showtrial represent the kind of high impact, one-of-a-kind premium shows we’re looking to bring to Canadians on CBC Gem.”
