The Canada Media Fund (CMF) has invested C$3.5 million ($2.8 million) to support the production of 16 projects as part of its Web Series Pilot Program.

The program was put in place to finance Canadian web series in their second or subsequent season. It was developed to meet the need for linear content created for online consumption. CMF funding contributes to the return of nine web series in English and seven in French. One is from Manitoba, eight are from Ontario and seven hail from Québec. Eleven projects are dramas, while three are intended for children and youth, and two are documentary web series.

A five-member jury evaluated all of the projects submitted for funding as part of the Web Series Pilot Program. The jury was composed of Canadian and international industry specialists, including Voyelle Acker (Paris), Kelly-Lynne Ashton (Toronto), Joël Bassaget (Berlin), Véronique Marino (Montréal) and Emilia Zboralska (Toronto).
