Canada & Germany Reopen Digital Media Projects Incentive

The Canada Media Fund (CMF) and Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg (MBB) have reopened their incentive for the co-development and co-production of digital media projects between Canadian producers and German producers based in Berlin-Brandenburg.

The Canada-Germany Digital Media Incentive, which is now in its third year, has a budget set at C$450,000 ($335,261). The total maximum contribution for each project funded through the incentive is C$300,000 ($223,507), with each funding organization contributing half of the funds.

To qualify, projects must involve producers eligible under criteria from both the CMF and MBB and have to be created for digital platforms. The projects can be either a game, a web series, multiplatform content, augmented reality or virtual reality experiences. They’ll be evaluated on innovative and creative elements, how they engage the targeted community and audience, and the creative team, as well as the viability of the projects’ budget and timelines.
