VICE in Content Deal with Hulu Japan

Hulu Japan is set to bring its subscribers some 250 hours of VICE programming this year and will co-produce anime and drama with the youth media brand.

The content coming to Hulu Japan’s 1.8 million subs hails from VICELAND and VICE’s digital channels, including VICE News, Munchies (food) and Noisey (music). Titles under the deal include Gaycation, Black Market, F*ck, That’s Delicious, Most Expensivist and VICE Essentials. Hulu Japan will promote VICE content together with its parent company, Nippon TV.

In addition, VICE Studios will enter into drama and anime co-productions with Hulu Japan, with more details to be announced at a later date.

Hosi Simon, CEO of VICE Asia Pacific, commented, “Offering more VICE content to an expanding Japanese audience is a key part of our continued growth across Asia, and an ongoing commitment to bring original, culturally relevant content to as many young viewers as we can, wherever they are, and whatever the screen.”

Kazufumi Nagasawa, chief content officer at Hulu Japan, added, “We are thrilled to be able to introduce VICE’s highly distinctive program lineup to our users who, we believe, are the most discriminating group of viewers in Japan. We are really looking forward to announcing upcoming projects through deeper collaboration with VICE shortly.”
