Nippon TV Attending DISCOP Istanbul for First Time

TOKYO: Nippon TV is scheduled to present a slate of scripted format dramas at this year’s DISCOP Istanbul, marking the first time the Japanese network attends the event.

Sue Fujimoto, the network’s managing director of international business development, and Ayako Tajima, the manager for international business development, are set to attend on behalf of Nippon TV. Some of the drama series they’ll be presenting include My Little Nightmare, about a young teacher and student of hers who can predict the future through dreams; I’m Mita, Your Housekeeper, about a mysterious housekeeper who follows any order given by her clients; The Pride of the Temp, a drama featuring the dilemmas between regular employees and temp staff; and The L Rules: 50 Words of Advice, which is described as Japan’s take on Sex and the City.

“By participating in DISCOP Istanbul, we hope that TV stations and production companies in Europe, Turkey and the Middle East can get to know that Nippon TV has high-quality dramas with unique storylines and ideas that are well thought out and well written, that will work well in countries around the world,” said Tajima. “In general, Japanese dramas have not been remade outside of Asia, but we think that this is because there have not been many chances to present them outside of Asia. DISCOP Istanbul is the perfect opportunity to showcase our dramas.”
