The National Film Board of Canada (NFB) has inked deals with China Central Television and Bilibili in China for animated and documentary content.

The agreements bring NFB animation and documentaries to CCTV-10, the science and education channel of China Central Television, as well as to the Bilibili web portal. More than 70 NFB titles are included in the deals, with the majority of NFB works available online on Bilibili for a five-year period. The deal with CCTV-10 was arranged through the Hubu Media Group.

The two sales are the latest agreements between the NFB and China. They come as the Minister of Canadian Heritage, Mélanie Joly, leads a Canadian cultural delegation, including NFB Chairperson Claude Joli-Coeur, on visits to Shanghai and Beijing from April 9 to 13. The deals come after the NFB’s participation in the Canada-China Joint Committee on Culture, co-chaired by the Minister of Canadian Heritage and the Minister of Culture of the People’s Republic of China.
