Malaysia’s Tarantella Ties Up with U.S.-Based Medient Studios

KUALA LUMPUR: Tarantella Pictures of Malaysia and the U.S.-based Medient Studios have signed a five-year deal to jointly develop, finance, produce and distribute content for China and the Far East Asian markets.

The two will work toward producing pan-Asian international films for distribution both in Malaysia and at Medient's new production facility in Georgia. Tarantella will act as the Southeast Asian distribution arm for Atlas International Films, which was recently acquired by Medient.

Manu Kumaran, Medient Studio’s chairman of the board, commented: “Over the last 20 years Tarantella has built a formidable reputation in the region and we are excited by the possibilities that this deal has to offer.”

Sharad Sharan, the managing director of Tarantella, and Renu Sharan, the director, said: “This venture together with Medient Studios is set to take Malaysian production and Southeast Asian culture to an all new international platform.”
