Korean SVOD Service Takes BBC Worldwide Titles

LIVERPOOL: South Korean SVOD platform BTV has entered into a two-year content deal with BBC Worldwide Asia covering more than 600 hours of drama, factual and natural-history titles.

The deal with IPTV service BTV, owned by telco SK Broadband, was announced at BBC Worldwide’s Showcase in Liverpool. On the natural-history front it covers the landmark titles Africa and Life Story. In terms of drama, highlights include War and Peace and season nine of Doctor Who.

“We are committed to bringing great quality programming to viewers in Korea,” said Soojin Chung, general manager of BBC Worldwide in Northeast Asia. “SK Broadband is a valued partner and we are excited to be working with BTV to bring award-winning and the best programs from the BBC to their VOD subscribers, to watch them at their convenience.”

Ahead of Showcase, BBC Worldwide announced a deal with Chinese streaming platform Mango TV.
