Japan’s History Channel Brings in New GM

NEW YORK/TOKYO: Asia Ireton has been hired as the general manager of The History Channel Japan, a collaboration between A+E Networks and Super Network.

As general manager, Ireton will be expected to supervise all channel operations, including programming, production, marketing, affiliate distribution, sales activities, financial reporting and new business development. She will work out of Tokyo under Alan Hodges, the managing director for the Asia Pacific at A+E Networks, and Shoji Iwamoto, the president of Super Network and representative director for The History Channel Japan.

From 2001 to 2004 Ireton served as the general manager of HISTORY Japan. Before that she was the head of marketing and distribution for Marza Animation Planet.

"Ms. Ireton’s passion for our content, knowledge of the Japanese media market, and roots on both sides of the Pacific make her uniquely qualified to manage the growth of A+E Networks’ brands in this vital market," noted Hodges.
