Rewind Networks has secured carriage for its HITS Movies channel in Malaysia, inking a deal with leading pay-TV operator Astro.

At launch, HITS Movies will be available in HD as part of a complimentary preview for two months for all Astro customers. The year-old service, which features blockbuster films from the ’60s to the ’90s, is now in five markets, following rollouts in Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines and Sri Lanka, reaching 7 million homes. It joins the HITS channel, showcasing classic series, on Astro.

“The launch of HITS Movies on Astro—one of the region’s largest multiplatform content and consumer companies—marks an important milestone for Rewind Networks’ footprint in Asia,” said Avi Himatsinghani, CEO of Rewind Networks. “We are confident that HITS Movies’ solid curation and unique proposition of the best Hollywood blockbusters from the ’60s to the ’90s will be well-received by viewers in Malaysia, which will drive high viewer engagement and even stronger customer loyalty for Astro.”

Agnes Rozario, director of content at Astro, added, “We are delighted to work with Rewind Networks to bring more feel-good shows on HITS Movies to movie fans, and strengthen our content offerings.”

The HITS Movies slate includes The Sound of Music, Sister Act, Magnificent Seven, Freaky Friday, Mary Poppins and Alien.
