China Media Group Extends Olympic Games Coverage

Chinese state broadcaster China Media Group (CMG) has been awarded the exclusive broadcast rights in the Chinese mainland and Macau for the summer and winter Olympics from 2026 to 2032.

The deal with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) covers free-to-air and subscription TV as well as internet and mobile rights. Also covered are the rights to broadcast all editions of the Youth Olympic Games until 2032. CMG provided coverage of the Tokyo games this year.

CMG is set to launch a 4K HD 24/7 CCTV Olympic Channel ahead of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games in 2022. It already has a deal to deliver coverage of the 2022 and 2024 games.
