BBC First Lands in Singapore

SINGAPORE: BBC First has secured its first Southeast Asian carriage deal, with an April 4 launch set for the service on StarHub in Singapore.

The drama channel will feature BBC titles like Sherlock and War and Peace. BBC First launches as an SVOD service on the Singaporean platform, available to StarHub’s Basic Entertainment HD Upsize customers. Non-StarHub TV customers can also access BBC First through the Go Premium Pack on StarHub Go.

“We are very excited to have Singapore as the inaugural launch of BBC First in Southeast Asia,” said Monty Ghai, senior VP and general manager of BBC Worldwide Southeast Asia. “Viewers in Singapore recognize and appreciate the intelligent and distinctive content of BBC drama. BBC First is the ideal platform for us to deliver the best and latest BBC dramas to Singapore fans to watch anytime they want. And soon, viewers will be able to watch some of our most popular and biggest dramas within 24 hours of their original transmission.”

BBC First is also available in Australia, the Middle East, North Africa, South Africa, Belgium and the Netherlands, and as a block in Japan.
