APOS Unveils Conference Agenda

SINGAPORE/HONG KONG: Media Partners Asia has announced the agenda for the upcoming Asia Pacific Video Operators Summit (APOS), with sessions on China, India and Japan, the future of TV and advertising, digital disruption and more.

APOS is set for April 26 to 28 in Bali, Indonesia. On April 27, a slew of heavy hitters are set to address APOS attendees under the theme “Game Changers.” Kevin Mayer, senior executive VP and chief strategy officer at The Walt Disney Company, will discuss “Driving for Pole Position in the Digital Entertainment Ecosystem.” Next up Netflix’s Reed Hastings and Ted Sarandos will weigh in on the OTT platform’s global strategy. Also on the Game Changers lineup are DreamWorks Animation’s Jeffrey Katzenberg, VICE’s Shane Smith and Evolution Media Capital’s Rick Hess.

The APOS Market Makers sessions will focus on individual territories. For China, the speaker lineup includes Li Ruigang, founding chairman of CMC Capital Partners and CMC Holdings; Ling Gang, president of Shanghai Oriental Pearl Media; Li HuaiYu, co-founder and CEO of Whaley Technologies; and Le Sports’s deputy chairman, Ma Guoli, and VP of strategy, Yu Hang. Exploring “Japan’s Next Evolution” will be Kimio Maruyama, board director and senior executive operating officer at Nippon TV. To discuss “Korea’s Next Wave” will be D.J. Lee, president of media content at CJ E&M, and Jeongdo Hong, president and CEO of JoongAng Media Network. Under the theme of India’s Digital Transformation, delegates will hear from Sanjay Gupta, COO of STAR India, Adil Zainulbhai, independent director on the board at Reliance Industries, and Harit Nagpal, CEO of Tata Sky.

The APOS Market Makers & Disruptors sessions include a Focus on Australia, with Allen Lew, CEO of Optus; Mike Sneesby, CEO of Stan Entertainment; and Scott Lorson, CEO of Fetch TV. David Granville-Smith, A+E Networks’s EVP and CFO, will discuss “A Bigger & Better Future.” Providence Equity Partners’s Tony Ball and Bis Subramanian will weigh in on “The Case for Execution.”

Also on the day one agenda is a session with Christina Miller, president and general manager for Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and Boomerang, discussing “Creativity, Content & Commerce with Kids.”

Day two includes case studies with Modern Times Group’s Jorgen Madsen Lindemann and Hong Kong Broadband Network’s William Yeung and NiQ Lai.

The Game Changers & Disruptors lineup includes Globe Telecom chief Ernest Cu. There will also be a session on online video featuring HOOQ’s Peter Bithos, iflix’s Mark Britt, Hulu Japan’s Kazufumi Nagasawa, Gig’s Arpad Istvan Kiraly and StarHub’s Howie Lau.

Under APOS Perspectives, Endemol Shine Group’s Sophie Turner Laing will discuss “A Flight to Quality.” The “Investing in Digital Disruption” lineup includes Saban Capital Group’s Adam Chesnoff and Emerald Media’s Paul Aiello.

The “Future of TV and Video Advertising” will be debated by Astro’s Henry Tan, Unilever Asia’s Rahul Welde, Starcom Mediavest’s Jeffrey Seah and Twitter’s Parry Singh.

The APOS Showcase will look at virtual reality with Jaunt’s Jens Christensen, Lionsgate’s Peter Levin, Lytro’s Jason Rosenthal and Vrse’s Drew Larner.

The session titled “The Next Growth & Disruption” includes Viacom International Media Networks’s Robert Bakish, Discovery’s Arthur Bastings, FOX Networks Group’s Zubin Gandevia and PCCW’s Janice Lee.

Delivering the “APOS Perspective,” Hary Tanoesoedibjo, president and CEO of MNC Group, will discuss the future of the Indonesian media outfit.
