MIPCOM Spotlight: CJ E&M Corporation

CANNES: Combining Korean history with fiction is The Three Musketeers, a fantasy drama based on the book penned by Alexandre Dumas that’s being presented by CJ E&M Corporation.

“Since the western aspect has been added to the drama, various international audiences will be able to easily adapt to the story,” says Alex Oe, the director of acquisitions and sales at CJ E&M Corporation.

Other highlights are The Secret Hotel, a romantic comedic drama that Oe says adds “a layer of murder mystery” in a “cute, quirky way,” and the 2014 Mnet Asian Music Awards.

Additionally, CJ E&M is presenting the fashion competition Sold Out to international buyers, which watches as designers create unique clothes for the runway that the audience will vote on.

“These one-of-a-kind ‘sold out’ pieces will be available for purchase at both [retail] and online stores,” says Alex Oe, the director of acquisitions and sales at CJ E&M Corporation.

The company is also offering up The Bunker. “Each week, a car is bought with the intention of upgrading and selling it over the buying price,” says Oe of The Bunker. “The car is then sold through an open auction.”

Then there is Grandpas Over Flowers, which has enjoyed success in China since it launched there this summer. Oe says he’d like to see some new versions of the show head into production.
