NEW YORK: Of all the new programs that launched globally in September, Netflix’s Marvel’s Luke Cage generated the most buzz on Twitter and Facebook, with some 165,000 tweets, according to The WIT.

Ranking first in the list of the top ten most-buzzed-about new shows in social media last month, the sci-fi drama series follows as Marvel hero Luke Cage, introduced in Marvel’s Jessica Jones—also on Netflix—moves to Harlem and faces enemies ranging from Black Mariah to Cottonmouth. Facebook and Twitter commenters were buzzing about the #HighProductionValues and the #Diversity shown, also saying that the series is #CompellingViewing.

Grande Fratello VIP, which debuted on Canale 5 in Italy, generated some 144,000 tweets. The local adaptation of Celebrity Big Brother features 13 celebrity contestants living under the same roof for seven weeks. Many viewers commenting on social media were talking about the #WittyHost of the #GuiltyPleasure show that had the feeling of #OldSchoolTV.

With around 142,000 social-media comments, Atlanta on FX in the U.S. ranks number three. The comedy created by and starring award-winning actor and writer Donald Glover is about two cousins on their way up through the Atlanta rap scene whose opposing views on art versus commerce, success and race will make their quest anything but easy. There was much #RespectToDonaldGlover being given on social media, with commenters noting the #SharpWriting and #GreatProductionValues of the series. Many also thought its story was #Realistic.

E!’s new reality show Rob & Chyna stirred up around 140,000 tweets. The series is series spun off from Keeping Up with the Kardashians and follows the whirlwind romance of Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna as they prepare for the birth of their first child. Facebook and Twitter were buzzing about the overall #Attitude of the show and some thought it was #OverDramatic and even noted the #PoorEditing.

Number five on the list, SuperMax on Brazil’s TV Globo, saw some 138,000 social-media comments. The drama series is about a reality show that confines 12 participants in a decommissioned maximum-security prison. To raise tensions, producers stop communicating with the candidates. Many viewers gave the show a #ThumbsUp on social media, commenting about the #StateoftheArtProduction and #NerveRacking tension it created.

France 2’s L’émission politique features interviews with politicians commenting about the news and their programs, ahead of the presidential election. The debut drew some 115,000 comments on Facebook and Twitter from an #EngagedAudience, some of whom were buzzing about the #PolarizingSarkozy and the #InappropriateJournalist.

From ABS-CBN in the Philippines, Pinoy Boyband Superstar saw around 78,000 tweets. The local adaptation of the talent search format La Banda (The Band) created by Simon Cowell aims to form a Filipino boy band. There was much #FanCraze on Facebook and Twitter for the #CuteContestants and #StarHostBillyCrawford.

Içerde (Insider), which debuted on Show TV in Turkey, had some 77,000 comments about the premiere. The thriller tells the story of twin brothers separated during their youth because of the imprisonment of their father. They find themselves again years later in dramatic circumstances. Among those tweeting about the show, many were giving #Kudos for the #HighQuality and #GreatCast.

The debut of Queen Sugar on OWN in the U.S. drew around 65,000 social-media mentions. The drama series executive produced by Oprah Winfrey chronicles a spirited woman who leaves her Los Angeles lifestyle behind to claim an inheritance from her father—a sugar cane farm in the heart of Louisiana. The viewers on Facebook and Twitter were commenting about the #Emotional and #Powerful story that #Resonates. There was also much #KudostoOprah.

Marion, 13 ans pour toujours, which premiered on France 3, caps off the list at number ten. The TV movie about school bullying that led to the suicide of a 13-year-old girl, based on a real-life story, saw around 55,000 tweets. Many of the comments about the #HighImpactMovie addressed the #EmotionalIssue it presents and touched on the #Anger and #Shame.
