NEW YORK: Of all the new programs that launched globally in August, ABS-CBN’s Till I Met You generated the most buzz on social media, with some 549,000 tweets, according to The WIT.

In the list of the top ten most-buzzed-about new shows in social media last month, tracking the number of Facebook and Twitter comments during the premiere episodes (rounded up to the nearest hundred), Till I Met You holds the number one spot. This romantic comedy starring James Reid and Nadine Lustre (a.k.a. “JaDine”) is the story of a budding romance between two childhood friends. The internet was buzzing with #Kudos and #FanCraze for #JaDine.

X Factor Brasil, which debuted on Rede Band in Brazil, garnered around 293,000 tweets. This local adaptation of FremantleMedia’s The X Factor format had an #EngagedAudience watching the show and tweeting about it. There were many #DividedOpinions though, and comments were being made about a possible #TalentShortage and the #AbruptEnding.

Also from Brazil, Justiça on TV Globo saw some 161,000 tweets. The drama series is about four strangers seeking justice whose paths will cross. Facebook and Twitter were buzzing about the #LovelyLeadActress, #GreatConcept and #IntertwinedStories, which audiences found to be #Brilliant and #Moving.

The debut of Programa do Porchat on Rede Record in Brazil generated around 95,000 comments on social media. The late-night show is hosted by comedian Fábio Porchat. The first guest is Sasha, daughter of the country’s most popular TV host, Xuxa Meneghel. There was much talk on Facebook and Twitter about the #Hilarious and #FastPaced first episode, which featured the #AdorableSasha and had a #GreatInterviewer.

Coming in at number five on the list is Catfish Brasil, MTV Brasil’s local adaptation of the format Catfish: The TV Show, which explores what happens when online couples meet in person. There were around 78,000 tweets sent about the premiere, with many #SevereReviews that it #SeemsScripted or #Fake.

Las Campos on Telecinco in Spain had around 44,000 tweets sent surrounding its first episode. The reality soap shows the daily lives of the channel’s most popular female presenters, mother and daughter Terelu and María Teresa Campos. It was a battle of #LoversvsHaters on Facebook and Twitter though, with some #UnconditionalFans chiming in and others saying it was #Boring. Some tweets were joking about #MariatheViralMaid.

There were some 31,000 comments about the one-off special La rue des allocs on France’s M6. The local adaptation of the factual format Benefits Street follows the lives of residents in several districts in Amiens (in Northern France) hit by poverty. Social media was abuzz with comments that the show was an #Outrageous, #Irrelevant and #ShockingRepresentation.

The premiere of Entubados on Canal Sony in Brazil had #EngagedViewers tweeting about the premiere. The live reality competition sees eight famous YouTubers confined in a house. They must create and publish videos on a topic given by the host: cooking, dancing, humor, fashion…. There were around 27,000 tweets, with much #Excitement and #FanCraze.

Preciosas, which launched on Canal 13 in Chile, garnered some 25,000 comments about its debut. The comedy drama tells the story of five women who are incarcerated for various reasons and manage to break out of prison in a spectacular way to settle scores outside. #DividedViewers were commenting about the #GreatCast but #SlowPace.

Number ten on the list is Sol Nascente, which premiered on TV Globo in Brazil. There were around 24,000 comments about the telenovela following two immigrant families settled in Brazil: an Italian family who owns a bakery and a Japanese family who also runs their own business. Commenters on social media were buzzing about the #CultureCrossing series, which had a #BeautifulCast (#MouthWatering) and #NiceValues.
