Principal Photography Begins on Sci-Fi Film

MONTREAL, August 6: Rise
of the Gargoyle,
the story of an
ancient gargoyle monster terrorizing modern-day Paris, began principal
photography this week and is expected to shoot until the end of August in
Romania.

Eric Balfour (24, Six Feet Under) plays Jack Richmond, a struggling author whose theories
on pagan architecture are not taken seriously. Richmond follows a lead from his
publisher Carol, played by Tanya Clarke (A Beautiful Mind), to
a demolished church where he faces a horrific monster—a real-life version
of a stone gargoyle. He enlists the help of others to track the creature before
it destroys Paris.

The international
distributor is RHI Entertainment with Canada’s Muse Entertainment and Romania’s
MediaPro Studios co-producing. Bill Corcoran (Atomic Twister, Vipers) is the director. François Sylvestre (Infected, Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde) and Andreea Stanculeanu (The Wind in the
Willows)
are producing and Robert Halmi, Sr. (Tin Man, Lion in the Winter)
is an executive producer. The director of photography is Pierre Jodoin (Killer
Wave
).

Michael Prupas, the
executive producer for Muse Entertainment, said: “This movie is the first of
five sci-fi features that Muse Entertainment will be producing this year for
SCI FI Channel in the U.S. and Super Channel in Canada. With a terrific cast
and crew, Rise of the Gargoyle will
be a frightening trip.”
