BBC Worldwide Names Ritchie to VP of Distribution in EMEA Region

LONDON, April 2: BBC
Worldwide has appointed Gerry Ritchie as its
VP of distribution in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) in the newly
integrated Global Channels and BBC World sales configuration, effective
immediately.

Ritchie’s appointment
follows the integration of the BBC World and Global Channels sales and
distribution teams that will globally represent all of the BBC’s commercial
channels. In his new role, he will
be responsible for expanding Global Channels’ distribution and strategy across
EMEA, as well as explore opportunities on new platforms such as DTT, IPTV and
mobile across the region.

Previously, Ritchie was
BBC World’s regional director of distribution and business development, where
he was responsible for maximizing the channel's distribution and
subscription revenues in Europe, Middle East, South Asia and the Americas.

Prior to this, Ritchie worked with Turner Broadcasting Systems Europe
Distribution as the regional director of sales, where he was responsible for
the distribution of CNN International, Cartoon Network and TNT Movies with
major European cable and satellite platform operators.
