I Didn’t Know That Returns to National Geographic Channel

LONDON, April 2: National
Geographic Channel U.K. (NGC U.K.) has re-commissioned the 20×30-minute weekly
popular-science series I Didn’t Know That, produced by ALL3MEDIA-owned North One Television, for a second
season that will premiere May 3 in the U.K., with further international rollout
later in the year.

The first half of the
series will broadcast weekly with the second half due to follow in the autumn.
As with the first season, I Didn’t Know That will also air globally in all 164 countries where
National Geographic Channel is transmitted. Simon Bohrsmann (NGC U.K.) and
Stephen Hunter (National Geographic Channels International), along with James
Woodroffe and Richard Pearson of North One Television, will serve as executive
producers of the series. Michal Porecki has also returned as series producer.

Featuring British
industrial scientists Richard Ambrose and Jonny Phillips, each episode of I
Didn’t Know That
sees the pair
embark on an unusual, investigative mission to explore the science of everyday
objects—from balancing a family car on a supermarket trolley to test its
strength, to finding out if a gaming enthusiast’s virtual helicopter flying
skills can be applied in real life.

In addition to the 20-part
series, North One will deliver a one-hour, I Didn’t Know That ‘green’ special on May 28 at 7 p.m. in which
Ambrose and Phillips will reveal the surprising facts and science behind the
growing array of consumer green products and services. The special will offer
practical tips on saving energy in everyday life.

“Series one was a hit for
us—Richard and Johnny’s knack of presenting sometimes complex topics in
an entertaining way has tapped a rich vein with our viewers,” commented Simon
Bohrsmann, the GM of NGC U.K. “And this season’s stories promise to have even
more appeal, as we examine more bizarre aspects of modern life.”
