MIPCOM Diversify TV Excellence Awards Recognize Vida & More

Reed MIDEM has announced the winners of the MIPCOM Diversify TV Excellence Awards 2019, held in partnership with A+E Networks and Diversify TV, with honors going to Starz’s Vida and BBC Three’s Jerk, among others.

Vida was honored in the category for representation of LGBTQ+ (scripted), while Transkids, from Israel’s YesDocu (DBS), was recognized in the non-scripted arena.

Jerk scored a nod for representation of disability (scripted), and If There’s Room for Two, on Spain’s TVE, did for non-scripted.

In the category for representation of race and ethnicity, Isoken—from Nigeria’s Africa Magic—won for scripted and Breaking the Taboo: Racism and Resistance—from Brazil’s Globo—for non-scripted.

In kids’ programming, The Bravest Knight, a Big Bad Boo Studios program for Hulu, was recognized.

A+E Networks is the founder of the diversity and inclusion initiative and the title sponsor.
