A Little Late with Lilly Singh Leads September’s Social Wit List

Of all the new programs that debuted in September, NBC’s A Little Late with Lilly Singh generated the most buzz on Instagram, according to The WIT.

The late-night talk show is hosted by YouTube star Lilly Singh, as she conducts in-studio interviews with an array of guests and creates and stars in pre-taped comedy sketches and signature segments. The series has garnered 234,000 Instagram followers, with Singh counting over 9.1 million followers of her own.

Coming in second on the list is The Kelly Clarkson Show, a syndicated daytime talk show hosted by the musician. The show has racked up 166,000 Instagram followers, and Clarkson has 4.3 million.

The third season of Top Boy, which previously aired in the U.K. on Channel 4, debuted globally on Netflix to 151,000 followers. Stars Ashley Walters and Micheal Ward have 318,000 and 226,000 followers, respectively. Season three picks up as Dushane returns from exile to his home in London to reclaim his throne in the highly lucrative drug market.

The fourth spot on the list goes to Korea’s Melting Me Softly, a fantasy-romance series centering on Ma Dong-chan and Go Mi-ran, who are both frozen during an experiment. They wake up 20 years later and must keep their body temperature above 30°C in order to survive. The show has collected 140,000 followers, with star Ji Chang-Wook boasting 9.5 million followers of his own.

Beau, a talk show hosted by Beau van Erven Dorens that bowed on RTL4 in the Netherlands, sees the eponymous host invite key figures from showbiz, sports and politics. The Dutch TV star has 186,000 followers and his new show counts 129,000.

Mucize Doktor, which premiered on FOX in Turkey, is a local adaptation of the South Korean medical drama series Gut Dakteo (Good Doctor) that centers on a young surgeon with Savant syndrome who is recruited into the pediatric surgical unit of a prestigious hospital. The series scored 119,000 followers, with strong Instagram followings for its stars Onur Tuna (851,000 followers), Taner Ölmez (796,000), Sinem Ünsal (204,000) and Murat Aygen (193,000).

At number seven is Produce 101 Japan, a local adaptation of the South Korean talent contest format Produce 101 in which 101 male contestants battle it out to be one of the 11 members of a boy band. Members are chosen by the viewers and judges. Three members of K-pop group Halo (32,000 followers) joined the show as contestants, and the series itself garnered 108,000 followers.

With 85,000 followers, the Romanian drama series Sacrificiul (The Sacrifice) is inspired by real events and follows the extraordinary story of three families of different origins. Their lives will be intertwined, and each will discover how far one can go in the name of love. It stars Michaela Prosan (186,000 followers), Oana Carmaciu (55,000) and Denis Hanganu (44,000).

Star TV in Turkey debuted Çocuk (Child) to 84,000 followers. The family series follows Akça, the daughter of a prostitute, as she decides to abandon her son to give him a better future. The child is taken in by Şule, who promises to be the mother of the baby and entrusts the child to her employee, Efe. It stars Merve Çagiran (1.2 million followers), Serhat Teoman (931,000), Ceyda Ateş (487,000) and Nazan Kesal (303,000).

Rounding out the list with 80,000 followers is Pequeña Victoria (Victoria Small) from Argentina’s Telefe. The telenovela is about a young woman who arrives in Buenos Aires to earn money and send it to her family. She meets a lonely woman who asks her if she wants to become a surrogate mother. Main star Luciano Castro has 1.3 million followers.
