Kenya Barris & Rashida Jones Team for Netflix Comedy Black Excellence

Netflix has ordered Black Excellence, the first series to come from its partnership with Kenya Barris, who will write and star in the single-camera comedy alongside Rashida Jones.

Inspired by Barris’s own approach to parenting, relationships, race and culture, Black Excellence aims to pull the curtain back and reboot the family sitcom. Barris and Jones will executive produce alongside Hale Rothstein (black-ish, grown-ish). The single-camera comedy will be produced through Barris’s production company, Khalabo Ink Society, under the multihyphenate’s overall series deal with the streaming platform.
