Festival FAST: SOMOS Fast’s Luis Guillermo Villanueva

At TV Latina’s Festival FAST, Luis Guillermo Villanueva, executive VP of SOMOSTV and director of operations for SOMOS Fast and SOMOS Next, discussed the company’s offerings, availability and accessibility, and the synergies between SOMOS Fast and other divisions of the company.

During his conversation with Elizabeth Bowen-Tombari, editor of TV Latina, which you can watch in full here, Villanueva emphasized the importance of data analysis and audience perceptions in shaping their programming decisions. He said, “All programming decisions are based on data because it’s a broad area where tastes can vary widely, especially in film and genres. We strive to program content that is evergreen. Our goal is to avoid repetitive content and instead offer a mix that appeals to everyone. This is how we manage and present our channels. While we program rom-coms, we might also include a Mexican sci-fi film. By experimenting with such combinations, we can assess how the content performs.”

Villanueva also discussed the structure of content across their channels, their partnerships with providers and the challenges and opportunities present in the FAST market.
