Eurocinema Expands Reach

LOS ANGELES, September 19:
Eurocinema, a TV network dedicated to bringing European and global theatrical
and short films to North American audiences, has increased its footprint
through a partnership with Shaw TV and its VOD service, adding more than 1.5
million homes to its reach in Canada.

Shaw, a cable television
community channel based in Calgary that also covers Manitoba, Saskatchewan and
British Columbia, previously offered only one or two of the service’s programs.
However, Shaw will now carry all ten feature films plus bonus short films each
month.

Eurocinema, which is now
available in 20 million homes in North America, features a combination of
movies from the international film community that have never been seen in the
U.S. This diverse selection of international theatrical films includes both
mainstream studio titles and independent productions, acquired from more than
20 global distributors.

Each feature film serves
as the centerpiece of a hosted two-hour thematic programming block designed to
provide perspective on the main theme, with such supplemental content as host
commentary, original documentaries and director interviews, as well as rarely
seen short-format films relevant to the feature.

“We’re delighted to be
part of Shaw’s VOD menu,” said Sebastien Perioche, the chairman and CEO of
EuroMedia Holdings, the parent of Eurocinema. “Thanks to mainstream industry
and consumer recognition of their quality, as well as the tremendous surge in
immigrant communities foreign films are enjoying a renaissance in North America
so this is a great time to become familiar with the many talented international
artists and directors working in cinema today.”
