Ex-CHUM Exec. Joins NBCU

LONDON, August 1: Roma Khanna, previously with Canada’s CHUM
Television, has been named the president of global networks and digital
initiatives at NBC Universal International, based in London.

Reporting to Peter Smith, the president of NBC Universal
International, Khanna will generate growth through geographical expansion,
local and pan-regional partnerships and new channel creation, with a focus on
strengthening the content and identity of the SCI FI, 13th Street and Universal
Channel brands. Within NBC Universal, she will leverage regional synergies and
cross-platform alliances through innovative sales, marketing and advertising
strategies. Khanna will also oversee the Digital Initiatives division and will
create new digital businesses and content for NBCU. Kevin Obi, the senior VP of
digital assets, will report to Khanna.

The appointment follows the recent announcement by NBC
Universal International of plans to launch 20 additional local television
channels in 23 countries across Europe, Asia and Latin America, in a drive to
more than double revenues from its Global Networks division. The expansion has
already begun, with new channels already launched in Latin America and the
Netherlands and more launches planned for the second half of this year.

Khanna joins NBC Universal from Canada’s CHUM Television,
where she was the co-head and senior VP of content. Khanna guided the TV
group’s domestic and international content creation, pre-licensing, program
acquisitions and distribution efforts. She oversaw the programming, independent
production, in-house production, international distribution and channel
formats, as well as the interactive and creative services across CHUM’s 33
television stations and multiple international and interactive distribution
outlets. Prior to that, she was the VP of CHUM Interactive, responsible for
strategic and daily operations of new media and cross-platform content for CHUM
Radio and Television.

“Roma is a talented media executive with great experience
building multiplatform media businesses,” said Jeff Zucker, the president and
CEO of NBC Universal. “We are pleased to have her take charge of our Global
Networks and Digital Initiatives groups and help them seize the phenomenal
growth opportunities that exist in the international marketplace.”
