ElectricNOW Originals, Almost Paradise Deals

Electric Entertainment has unveiled ElectricNOW Originals, the streaming platform’s own original programming for its AVOD and FAST streaming service, and has signed four new deals for its series Almost Paradise.

Talpa TV acquired free-TV rights for the Netherlands for Almost Paradise, while Eleven Entertainment secured pay-TV and VOD rights for South Korea. WAKO landed free-TV, pay-TV and VOD rights for Japan, and blue Entertainment acquired the SVOD rights for French-speaking Switzerland.

Each of the deals includes 20 hour-long episodes, making up two seasons of the series, which is currently streaming on Amazon’s Freevee in the U.S.

Sonia Mehandjiyska, head of international distribution for Electric Entertainment, said: “Almost Paradise holds a special place in our hearts; not only does it reflect our CEO Dean Devlin’s Filipino heritage, it also is the first TV series to film an entire season in the Philippines, with an all-Filipino crew. Separately, ElectricNOW Originals will be added to the lineup of more than 3,000 hours of free movies and TV shows currently available on ElectricNOW. The scripted programs launching ElectricNOW’s original slate include the 3D animated sci-fi comedy Sloane and the Cosmic Schlep and the half-hour comedy series The Poly Couple.

The 8×30-minute animated sci-fi comedy series Sloane and the Cosmic Schlep follows a restless young woman who leaves her home on Earth to find adventure, romance, new friends and a job as an interplanetary taxi driver for a slew of unruly aliens. But this puts Sloane and her friends in the crosshairs of N’Corp, the most nefarious monopoly in the galaxy, that will stop at nothing to eliminate all competition in its rideshare enterprise.

The Poly Couple began as a social media series, boasting over 1 million followers across socials and 500 million views. It was created by Dana Hobson and Daniel Wolf and inspired by the true events of their real-life daily experiences as a modern polyamorous couple. Working together with Electric Entertainment, they are adapting these stories into eight half-hour episodes that explore the difficulties and often comic complications of navigating love and relationships. The single-camera half-hour comedy will be available first quarter 2025.
