Discovery Delivers Revenue, Profit Gains

Fourth-quarter profit at Discovery, Inc. rose to $476 million on revenues that were 2 percent higher at $2.9 billion.

“2019 was a year of promises made and promises delivered,” said David Zaslav, president and CEO. “Our differentiated local content strategy and global scale, coupled with our unique free cash flow conversion profile, provide distinct financial flexibility that allows us to adapt to changing media consumption habits.”

Total revenues at the U.S. networks were up 2 percent to $1.75 billion, with ad revenues up 1 percent to $1.05 billion and distribution revenues increasing by 5 percent to $673 million.

At the international networks, meanwhile, there was a 3 percent gain in revenues to $1.1 billion, as ad revenues rose by 2 percent to $546 million and distribution revenues increased by 5 percent to $531 million.
