Newen’s Bibiane Godfroid, Lionsgate’s Jim Packer and writer, producer and showrunner Anna Winger have been named as recipients of this year’s Médailles d’Honneur at MIPTV, which is proceeding as planned from March 30 to April 2.

They will receive their MIPTV Médailles d’Honneur at a cocktail and awards ceremony at the Palais des Festivals on Monday, March 30, the first day of the market.

Godfroid is the CEO of Newen, a post she has held since 2018. Packer serves as president of worldwide television and digital distribution at Lionsgate. Winger created Deutschland 83/86/89 and Unorthodox and is the founder of Studio Airlift.

“It is a great honor to recognize these three exceptional industry figures, who have each, in their own way, made and continue to make major contributions to the international entertainment content sector, and whose vision and leadership set the standards in their respective fields,” said Laurine Garaude, director of the TV division at Reed MIDEM, which organizes MIPTV.

Reed MIDEM says it is “closely following the latest guidance from local and national authorities and the World Health Organization (WHO)” over coronavirus fears. In a statement posted to the MIPTV website, Reed MIDEM said that the “health and safety of our exhibitors, visitors and staff is our number one priority.” The organization says it is working with local authorities in Cannes and staff at the Palais de Festival to put in place a range of measures, “and will follow-up as the situation evolves.”

These include communication prior to the event and on-site regarding WHO recommendations for hand and respiratory hygiene; collaborating with airports, hotels and the city of Cannes to ensure vigilance and health/safety processes; a reinforced medical team at the venue; increased standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the venue; and additional support to exhibitors who wish to adopt specific measures for their booths.

Reed MIDEM is suggesting that attendees check travel advisories ahead of time. Several countries have imposed travel restrictions to and from China. Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris has set up a reception area for flights from China, Hong Kong and Macau, Reed MIDEM says. “This reception is provided by approved civil security association personnel, in conjunction with the airport medical service and reinforced by medical and paramedical professionals from the health reserve of the Ministry of Health.”

Reed MIDEM says it is “monitoring the situation very closely and are following local and national travel and health guidelines.”
