Canada’s CTV Goes for MasterChef Celebrity Showdown

TORONTO: CTV has added the charity cooking-competition special MasterChef Celebrity Showdown, featuring Terry Crews and international supermodel Gigi Hadid, to its winter 2016 schedule.

The first-ever MasterChef Celebrity Showdown, from One Potato Two Potato and Endemol Shine North America, is a two-hour special that will air on Monday, January 18, on CTV and CTV GO. Gordon Ramsay and pastry chef Christina Tosi will serve as judges while celebrities such as Crews, Hadid and actress Kaitlin Doubleday battle it out in the kitchen to win money for their favorite charities. The special will also pit previous MasterChef winners against some of the competitors from season four of MasterChef Junior. CraveTV is set to add the special to its reality TV collection on January 19.

MasterChef Celebrity Showdown will feature four battles: Hadid versus fellow international supermodel Devon Windsor; Crews and his wife Rebecca versus The Last Man on Earth’s Boris Kodjoe and his wife, Nicole Ari Parker, in a couples battle; Empire actresses Doubleday and Ta’Rhonda Jones; and MasterChef winners Luca Manfe, Christine Ha and Claudia Sandoval versus MasterChef Junior season four contestants Addison, Amaya and Zac.

MasterChef is produced by Endemol Shine North America and One Potato Two Potato, and is based on a format created by Franc Roddam and Endemol Shine. Ramsay, Elisabeth Murdoch, Eden Gaha, Robin Ashbrook, Adeline Ramage Rooney, Patricia Llewellyn and Ben Adler serve as executive producers.
