International Emmy Nominees Unveiled

Across 16 categories, 64 nominees are in the running for International Emmy Awards this year, with contenders hailing from a record 26 countries.

“As the International Emmys continue to recognize the very best in television, the creativity and caliber of this year’s nominees, from a record 26 countries, reflect the global strength of our industry,” said Bruce L. Paisner, the International Academy’s president and CEO. “New York City will once again serve as the global stage this November, where we will honor their remarkable achievements.”

Winners will be announced at the 53rd International Emmy Awards Gala on Monday, November 24.

The nominees for best drama hail from Mexico, Israel, South Africa and the U.K. with nods for Las Azules, Bad Boy, Koek and Rivals. Comedy contenders are Korea’s Chicken Nugget, the French series Iris, the U.K.’s Ludwig and Mexico’s Y Llegaron de Noche. Up for best telenovela is a diverse mix with Deha from Türkiye, Mania de Vocȇ from Brazil and Regreso a Las Sabinas and Valle Salvaje from Spain. The nominees for best TV movie/miniseries are Amar Singh Chamkila from India, Herrhausen: The Banker and the Bomb from Germany, Lost Boys & Fairies from the U.K. and Vencer o Morir from Chile.

In arts programming, the nominees are Art Matters with Melvyn Bragg from the U.K., DJ Mehdi: Made In France from France, Brazil’s Herchcovitch; Exposed and Japan’s Ryuichi Sakamoto: Last Days. Current affairs nominees are Dispatch: Kill Zone: Inside Gaza (U.K.), France’s Philippines: Diving for Gold (France), Repórter Record Investigação: Desaparecidos Forçados (Brazil) and Walk the Line (Singapore). Hell Jumper is in the running for best documentary alongside King of Kings: Chasing Edward Jones, O Prazer é Meu and School Ties.

Up for best actor are Diljit Dosanjh in Amar Singh Chamkila, David Mitchell in Ludwig, Oriol Pla in Yo, adicto and Diego Vasquez in One Hundred Years of Solitude, while actress nods went to Charlotte Hope in Catch Me A Killer, Anna Maxwell Martin in Until I Kill You, Carolina Miranda in Mujeres Asesinas and Maria Sid in Smärtpunkten.

Bluey is up for kids’ animation, competing against Lamput, Lupi e Baduki and Moominvalley, while in factual entertainment, the contenders are Auf Fritzis Spuren—Wie war das so in der DDR?, Bora, O Pódio é Nosso, Kids Like Us and Playroom Live. In the live-action category, Fallen is in the running alongside Luz, Prefects and Shut UP.

News nominees are Globo’s Fantástico: El Salvador: Safety’s Somber Side, Sky News’ The Gangs of Haiti, Al Jazeera’s Gaza, Search for Life and TV4’s Syria—The Truth Coming Out.

Canada’s 12th season of Big Brother is among the nominees for non-scripted entertainment, alongside Love is Blind: Habibi, Mexico’s take on The Masked Singer and Denmark’s Shaolin Heroes.

In the short-form series category, the nominees are from Hong Kong (Beyond Dancing), Canada (La médiatrice and My Dead Mom) and Argentina (Todo se Transforma).

The sports doc category includes Argentina ‘78, Chasing the Sun 2, It’s All Over: The Kiss That Changed the Spanish Football and Sven.
