Family, TV Divisions Offset Film Declines at eOne

Entertainment One’s revenues for the first half of the fiscal year were down slightly following a decline in its film division that was partially offset by gains in its television and kids’ segments.

Revenue for the period was £396 million, with EBITDA up 36 percent to £51 million. At the family segment, revenues were up 64 percent to £62 million and EBITDA rose 54 percent. The division was boosted by key brands Peppa Pig and PJ Masks.

Strong international sales of Designated Survivor and AMC series led to growth in its TV business, where revenues rose by 21 percent to £119 million. Designated Survivor also contributed strongly to the results at The Mark Gordon Company, with revenues of £52 million.

The film segment, meanwhile, saw fewer films released and a 29 percent reduction in revenues. With the film and television segments being combined, eOne is forecasting significant cost savings by fiscal year 2020.
