British Academy Children’s Awards Nominees Unveiled

BAFTA has announced the nominations for this year’s British Academy Children’s Awards, which recognize the best in kids’ television and film.

Up for best channel are CBBC, CBeebies, Hopster and TrueTube. In the comedy category, the contenders are The Amazing World of Gumball, Grandpa’s Great Escape, Horrible Histories and So Awkward. The drama nominees are Hetty Feather, Joe All Alone, Katy and The Worst Witch.

The entertainment nominations are for The Dog Ate My Homework, Prosiect Z, Sam & Mark’s Big Friday Wind Up and Swashbuckle. The factual nominees are Finding My Family Windrush: A Newsround Special, Missing Dad (My Life), My Gay Life and Mumbai Street Strikers (My Life).

Nominated for best content for change are My Life: Hike to Happiness, Newsround Inspirational Stories, Reply with a Full Stop If You Get This and What Do You Mean I Can’t Change the World? In the digital category, the contenders are CBBC Buzz, Hey Duggee: The Counting Badge, Ivandoe: The Adventure Game and Pablo’s Art World Adventure.

The international animation category comprises The Deep, The Heroic Quest of the Valiant Prince Ivandoe, SpongeBob SquarePants and Trollhunters. Up for best international preschool are Doc McStuffins, The Stinky and Dirty Show, Tumble Leaf and Vampirina. The contenders for international live action are Andi Mack, Hunter Street, The Next Step and Nowhere Boys: Two Moons Rising.

For preschool animation, there are Clangers, Hey Duggee, Octonauts and Sarah & Duck, while the preschool live-action nominees are Apple Tree House, CBeebies’ The Tempest, Get Well Soon Hospital and Waffle the Wonder Dog. Short-form nods were given to Aliens Love Underpants and…, The Dumping Ground: Sasha’s Contact Meeting, Origins and Tony’s Sketch Book.
