Rewind Networks has slated an October 1 launch for HITS Movies HD, a new basic movie channel, on StarHub in Singapore.

The channel celebrates the best in films from the 1960s to the 1990s. At launch, the lineup will boast movie hits from a wide range of genres—from romance (Grease, West Side Story) and action (Star Trek: The Motion Picture, The Terminator, The Italian Job) to comedies (The Pink Panther, Trading Places), thrillers (Fatal Attraction) and westerns (For a Few Dollars More).

“We are excited to partner with StarHub for the launch of HITS Movies HD—making Singapore our debut market for the channel in Asia,” said Avi Himatsinghani, CEO of Rewind Networks. “HITS Movies HD fills a clear need gap in the evolving subscription video landscape for quality, evergreen movies on the basic tier—a perfect fit for StarHub viewers looking for a unique and compelling entertainment offering at no additional cost.”

“It is important for us that the titles we pick for the channel resonate strongly with viewers who would love to watch them fondly again, or in the case of younger viewers, may have heard of these movies through remakes and adaptations but never had the chance to watch the original,” said Rewind Networks’ VP and channel head, Sandie Lee. “In addition to MGM Studios and Paramount Pictures, we will be acquiring movies from other leading studios in the coming months.”
