NBC Universal Content Now Available on Amazon Unbox

SEATTLE/ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, September 5: Amid its spat with
Apple’s iTunes Store, NBC Universal Television has reached a deal to offer up a
variety of television content on the digital video download service Amazon
Unbox, including new fall NBC series like Bionic Woman.

NBC Universal is reportedly not renewing its contract to
sell TV shows via the iTunes Store. Apple’s digital storefront has countered by
saying it won’t offer any of NBC’s new fall season shows on its service, which
could put the network at a disadvantage during the competitive fall season
launch period.

NBC shows now available on
Amazon Unbox include the Emmy Award-winning series The Office, the critically acclaimed drama Heroes, and Emmy-nominated comedy 30 Rock. Beginning on September 10, Amazon Unbox customers
can download for free—in advance of their network premieres—the
pilot episodes of new fall NBC series like Bionic Woman, Chuck,
Journeyman and Life. New episodes will be available on Amazon Unbox the
day after they air on TV. Amazon Unbox users will receive a 30-percent discount
when purchasing an entire season of a show.

In a prior agreement with NBC
Universal, Amazon Unbox has offered movies from Universal Pictures, Rogue
Pictures and Focus Features since September 2006. Offerings include new
releases such as Smokin' Aces and Hot
Fuzz
; classics such as Psycho and National Lampoon's Animal House; and later this year, Knocked Up and Evan Almighty.

“With the addition of NBC
Universal TV content to Amazon Unbox, fans now have the ultimate convenience
for enjoying their favorite shows whenever or wherever they want,” said
Jean-Briac Perrette, the president of NBC Universal Digital Distribution.
"This further expands our longstanding relationship to bring a robust
content offering to the marketplace in a variety of ways that will benefit the
consumer and, at the same time, protects our content.”

Amazon Unbox includes over
10,000 television shows, movies and other video content for rent or purchase,
viewable on a PC, portable video players, or on TV through the Amazon Unbox on
TiVo service.
