ZDF to Launch New Drama at MIPTV

MAINZ, February 27: ZDF
Enterprises will debut the event production The Miracle of Berlin for an international audience at this year’s
MIPTV.

The television movie
depicts the events that preceded the reunification of Germany through the story
of 18-year-old punk Marco, who is determined not to turn out like his father, a
high-ranking officer in the Stasi (the East German secret service). But when his
father saves him from a prison sentence, Marco has to repay him by performing
his military service. In the army the rebel is transformed into an exemplary
soldier, but eventually his desire for freedom and democracy contribute to the
growing national demand for the destruction of the Berlin Wall. Starring Kostja
Ullman, Karoline Herfurth, Veronica Ferres and Heino Ferch, The Miracle of
Berlin
was made for ZDF by
teamWorx, with ZDF Enterprises as co-producer. Nico Hofmann adapted the story
and Roland Suso Richter directs.

The premiere of the
television flick garnered 8.01 million viewers, with a market share of 21.5
percent.
