SAN BRUNO: A new YouTube project will collect submissions from users to create a feature documentary called Life in a Day, directed by Kevin Macdonald and exec-produced by Ridley Scott.

The doc will attempt to capture one day, as seen through the eyes of people around the world. On July 24, users are encouraged to film the events of their day and submit footage by July 31. Macdonald, the Oscar-winning director of films such as The Last King of Scotland, Touching the Void and One Day in September, will then edit the most compelling footage into a feature-length doc that will be exec-produced by Scott. Individuals whose footage makes it into final film will be credited as co-directors, and 20 contributors will be selected to attend the premiere. The film will premiere at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival.

All videos submitted will be posted to the Life in a Day channel.
