Xbox to Offer TV, Movie Downloads

REDMOND, November 7: Xbox 360 users will soon be able to
access more than 1,000 hours of television and movie content from CBS, MTV
Networks, Paramount Pictures, Turner Broadcasting System, Warner Bros. Home
Entertainment and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), via their gaming
consoles.

Beginning November 22—Xbox 360’s first
anniversary—gamers will be able to access full-length TV shows on a
download-to-own basis, and movies on a download-to-rent basis, from the Xbox
Live network. Content will be available in HD and standard-definition formats.
Microsoft has not yet announced how the programming will be priced.

everyone," said Peter Moore, the corporate VP of the Interactive
Entertainment Business at Microsoft. "It connects our partners with one of
the most coveted audiences in entertainment today, and provides even greater
value to our Xbox Live community, allowing them to enjoy the games and
entertainment they want, when they want it."

Television content available will include CSI and Survivor from CBS; Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken and Aqua Teen Hunger Force; Comedy Central’s South Park and Chappelle's Show, MTV’s The Real World and Pimp My Ride; and Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last
Airbender
and SpongeBob
SquarePants
. Downloadable movies will
include Paramount’s M:i:III, Nacho
Libre
and Jackass: The Movie and Warner Bros.’ The Matrix, Superman Returns and Batman Forever.
