STRATEGY FOR ROLLOUT: Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!
airs on Nick Jr. and Noggin in the U.S., “It’s aimed at preschoolers and is
doing extremely well. But preschool is a very different business than
[prime-time] television,” says Neil Braun, the president of distribution and
marketing at Starz Media. “So what we are offering broadcasters around the
world is not only the television show, but a turn-key business model that
includes licensing and merchandising, online games and animated promotional
spots that can be customized for their market.” In fact, besides gaining
popularity among young viewers on Nick Jr. and Noggin, Wubbzy is an even bigger hit online, generating more than 40
million game plays on Nick’s website. The series has also received critical
acclaim. Even though it’s just in its first season, the show was nominated for
an Annie Award in the Best Animated Television Production category.
